about

Overtone singing often features very clear and high overtones that are easy to perceive, but there are other overtone techniques where the listener has to make a little more of an effort to hear them. I like to sing in a low fundamental with somewhat murkier or scattered overtones and harmonics. Like a cloud of resonating breath, so to speak. Hence the name "the Breathing Song". It is somewhere in-between the singing of Buddhist monks with their enormous range of harmonics and sub-harmonics, and the European style which is more pointed. This is like a cloud of voices. "Cloud" both means a shape of water vapour without a clear boundary and "many people". With all the resonance, harmonics and overtone murkiness combined, this creates the illusion of many people singing, a choir.
