So, you say you are hearing crickets now and then. Yeah, I keep them in a terrarium in my studio and prod them when I need that crazy high note. No larynx was hurt in these recordings though (well, maybe a little bit). Oh, and the whales? Wonderful creatures, those sounds are awesome. I hope they can take their sweet time to evolve their songs. The human race may not be around very long and perhaps whales will have their chances to swim and sing unchallenged, streaming the pop charts.
The album Inneraction is a mix of overtone/polyphonic songs. While I was going through the sessions a lot happened in my live and in the recording studio at home. All in a very good sense I might add. And it shows. I mean, you can hear it!
There are two unplugged bonus tracks ("Chamber Music" and "Bathroom Overtones") which show that I really can sing overtones and polyphonics and need only one session for all the sounds in a track because these sounds are all contained in the full spectrum of my voice.
Good too, because my music production skills are not up to speed with editing a whole bunch of tracks and mixing them together. So, while overtones may sound so alien, that it feels as if the low fundamental and the high overtones are from a different source, in reality they are truly inseparable. A third track "Whistle" I turned into a bonus track as well after careful deliberation, which is explained in the info on that track.
This album revolves around the simple and clean Echo effect which gives a brilliant definition to the overtones with amazing intersections, while leaving the constant fundamental note and the harmonics mostly unaffected. Echo effect is taken to it's extreme in "ControlOutOfControl" where not only the breathing pauses are washed away by the echoes. It just goes on and on, the echoes creating their own rhythm. You can even dance to it. There is a minimalistic and hypnotic quality to it. Fundamental and harmonics form a slowly changing wall of sound where the short notes, grunts, overtones and undertones pop out.
Finally, the outlier Windmusic: it's basically extreme breathing. You either love it or leave it. Enjoy listening.

Album credits? Let me see. Singing, sound engineering, artwork. Yep, again it was all done by me. The crickets and whale sounds as well to be honest. Had to learn all from scratch, mostly by trial and error. Singing 20 years, music production this summer. Artwork is something I'd probably better hire someone to do. Of course there is no way I could have done any of this without my overtone singing teachers, the internet, Bandcamp sponsors and Audacity. Thank you!
This album is such a joy to listen to. It tickles my ear and my brain. Some of the recordings take some getting used to, but that is actually a good sign. Little chance this music gets boring. Harry Lieben
